The challenges represented by the massive heart and urological expansion at the Cleveland Clinic included a site restricted on three sides by existing structures, the full array of weather conditions inherent in northeast Ohio and an extremely aggressive schedule. Whiting Turner selected Cleveland Cement as the best choice to overcome these substantial obstacles. Working in conjunction with the construction team, Cleveland Cement was able to install in excess of 750,000 square feet of slab on metal deck, over 100,000 square feet of cast in place structural slabs and several cast in place concrete cores which exceeded 180 feet in height.
